JAZZ ENTER REBUILD; TRADE MITCHELL TO CAVS

I guess it's safe to say that Donovan Mitchell will not be dawning the New York Knicks jersey anytime soon

Today, the Utah Jazz dealt their young star to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Collin Sexton, Lauri Markkanen, Ochai Agbaji, three unprotected first round picks, and two pick swaps.

Sexton will be dealt via sign and trade as he agreed to a 4-year, 72 million contract.

The picks include Cleveland's unprotected 2025, 2027, and 2029 first round picks and pick swaps on 2026 and 2028.

For months the Knicks were the frontrunners to land Mitchell with the number of draft picks and young assets the Knicks have at their disposal.

After failing to secure a deal on monday, the Cavs swooped in out of nowhere to acquire the all star guard.

Mitchell is set to join a young team with two all stars in Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen, and future all star Evan Mobley.

At the start the summer, the Jazz traded away Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves for a haul of draft picks. The Jazz have acquired 13 draft picks through 2029 during this summer.

The Jazz are also expected to trade away Mike Conley, Bojan Bogdanovic, Jordan Clarkson, Rudy Gay, and Malik Beasley as they enter their rebuild.
